Zenga Distribution and Inequality Ordering

چکیده

ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to establish an ordering related to the inequality for the recently introduced Zenga distribution. In addition to the well-known order based on the Lorenz curve, the order based on I(p) curve is considered. Since the Zenga distribution seems to be suitable to model wealth, financial, actuarial and especially, income distributions, these findings are fundamental in the understanding of how parameter values are related to inequality. This investigation shows that for the Zenga distribution, two of the three parameters are inequality indicators.

An empirical analysis about the impact of income components on inequality in European countries

In this work we use data relating to the year 2012 of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) to analyze and compare the impact from income components, taxes and social contributions on inequality among households in four major euro area countries: France, Germany, Italy and Spain. To this aim we first aggregate, for each household, gross income components into f...

A revisit of a mathematical model for solving fully fuzzy linear programming problem with trapezoidal fuzzy numbers

In this paper fully fuzzy linear programming (FFLP) problem with both equality and inequality constraints is considered where all the parameters and decision variables are represented by non-negative trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. According to the current approach, the FFLP problem with equality constraints first is converted into a multi–objective linear programming (MOLP) problem with crisp const...

Multidimensional Inequality and Dependence between its Dimensions

Well-being and its inequality are inherently multidimensional concepts (Tobin, 1970; Sen, 1992). Multidimensional measures of inequality allow taking this multidimensionality explicitly into account. One of the important added values of such an approach compared to the standard unidimensional ones is its sensitivity to the dependence between the dimensions. Intuitively, we say that a multidimen...

Modeling inequality and spread in multiple regression

We consider concepts and models for measuring inequality in the distribution of resources with a focus on how inequality varies as a function of covariates. Lorenz introduced a device for measuring inequality in the distribution of income that indicates how much the incomes below the u quantile fall short of the egalitarian situation where everyone has the same income. Gini introduced a summary...

Decomposition of Zenga’s inequality index I

This paper concerns some notes about the inequality index based on the ratios between lower and upper arithmetic means recently proposed by Zenga [2006]. Beside some definitions and notation given in section 2, we show (section 3) that the inequality measure proposed fulfills the population replication principle. In the remainder of the paper our purpose is to consider a population partitioned ...
